Need A Plumber In Engadine You Can Rely Upon?

We work throughout Engadine regularly, not as an occasional out of area job.

Engadine is a well established family suburb, and a lot of the homes here went up in the 1970s, so the plumbing now needs more attention than it did when it was new. Tapware and cistern parts from that era start leaking or seizing. The flexible hoses under kitchen and bathroom cabinets are worth a look at this age, because they degrade quietly and can fail without warning. Underground, the original clay sewer lines are overdue for a proper inspection.

Call us for any plumbing job, big or small, and we will give you an upfront quote first.

Plumbing Services Our Engadine Plumbers Provide

We hold NSW Fair Trading Contractor Licence 93566C and Qualified Supervisors Licence 67936C.

  • Blocked drains: blocked toilets, sinks and sewer lines cleared on the spot.
  • Pipe relining: done in house by our own crew, not subcontracted out.
  • CCTV drain camera inspections: we look inside the pipe instead of guessing.
  • Hydro jetting: high pressure water to cut roots and scour out grease and debris.
  • Stormwater drainage: surface water and yard drainage not coping with heavy rain.
  • Sewer repair and pipe locating: finding the line with the least digging.
  • Leaking and burst pipes: leaking taps, dripping cisterns and pipes that have split.
  • Tapware and toilets: washers, cartridges and new toilet suites.
  • Fridge plumbing: fridges plumbed in properly.
  • Sump and stormwater pumps: including pumps serving basement carparks.
  • Grease traps: scheduled maintenance for restaurants.
  • Strata and commercial plumbing: reactive and planned maintenance for body corporates.

How Our Engadine Plumbers Find The Problem

We use drain cameras and pipe locating gear, so we find the actual cause rather than treating the symptom, on residential and commercial jobs across the Sutherland Shire. The vans carry the common washers and cartridges, so smaller jobs are often finished on the first visit.

Upfront Quotes From Your Engadine Plumber

You get a clear price before the work starts, with no hidden charges and no pressure to say yes on the spot. If we find something underneath that changes the job, we stop, tell you what it will take, and you decide.

Blocked Drains Engadine: Tree Roots And Ageing Clay Pipes

Engadine sits on the edge of the Royal National Park, so a lot of properties here back straight onto bush, and with that comes some seriously aggressive tree root activity. The native species that thrive along the park boundary, particularly angophoras and scribbly gums, are relentless about finding moisture in underground pipes. If you have bush or big trees at the back of your block, it is worth having the drains checked even while everything still seems to be flowing fine. Add the original clay sewer pipes in those 1970s houses and you have the two things blocked drains love: a moisture source leaking out, and roots looking for it. Does your toilet gurgle or slow down when you run a tap somewhere else in the house? Do you get a smell near the garden after rain? Those signs are easy to ignore, and they usually mean something is developing underground. We are through Engadine regularly and we are close by, so call us and we can often be there the same day.

Our Blocked Drains Engadine Repair Services

Call us before the blocked drain gets worse. When we arrive at your home or your workplace in Engadine, the first thing we do is look at the blocked drain, toilet or sink so we can work out what is actually needed. Sometimes it clears with the plungers we carry. Other times it needs chemical or physical unblocking. Once the blockage is gone we assess why it happened, then talk you through how to stop it coming back. If damaged pipes or tree roots are involved, the drain will keep blocking until that is rectified, so it is worth dealing with properly the first time.

How We Unblock Sewerage Drains In Engadine

  • CCTV drain inspection: a camera down the line shows us what is causing the blockage and where it sits.
  • Hydro jetting: high pressure water jets clear the blockage and scour the pipe walls clean of debris and buildup.
  • Chemical drain cleaning: usually in bathrooms and kitchens, where hair or food waste is the cause.
  • Pipe locating: we find where your pipes actually run, so they can be cleared or repaired without digging up your floor.
  • Excavation: where a pipe is badly damaged, digging is sometimes the right answer, and we keep it as small as we can.
  • Pipe relining: a new lining cured inside the old pipe, which restores an aged clay line without trenching the yard.

Pipe relining is done by our own crew rather than handed to a subcontractor, which is a real advantage on the older Engadine pipes where root damage keeps coming back.

Leading Causes Of Blocked Drains In Engadine

  • Tree roots: roots head for water, and a cracked or porous pipe is exactly the water source they are looking for.
  • Foreign objects: children flush all sorts of things into toilets, and some of them cause serious blockages.
  • Build up of grease: fats and oils are the main cause of kitchen sink blockages, so never put either down a drain.
  • Toilet wipes: even the ones labelled flushable should not be flushed, and they cause major blockages for homes and for Sydney Water.
  • Hair: hair from the shower and basin combines with shampoo and body wash into a tangled, smelly mass in the drain.
  • Sanitary items: tampons, pads, liners and nappies need to be wrapped and binned, never flushed.
  • Damaged pipes: ground and foundations move, and that shifts pipes out of alignment and cuts the flow.
  • Food waste: scraps washed down the sink get trapped in built up fats and oils and set into a solid clog.

We had a blocked sewer and Craig from The Blocked Drain Guys came out straight away. He was fair, honest, kind, and cleared the problem quickly. Highly recommend them for fast and efficient service – thank you Craig! For context, before calling Craig we had contacted another company (Dans Plumbing). While they partially cleared the blockage, they then tried to pressure us into unnecessary “repairs” with a ridiculous $17,000 quote, making false claims about damaged pipes. We refused, but still had to pay $1,250 for their overpriced call-out. In the end, Craig solved the issue properly without the nonsense. If you want genuine service without being ripped off, go with The Blocked Drain Guys.

Craig was fantastic to deal with from start to finish. He was incredibly patient, took the time to explain everything clearly (and I had a lot of questions!), and made sure I fully understood what was going on. His work was super thorough, and he managed to clear my blocked drain on the same day—which was such a relief! On top of that, his pricing was very reasonable, especially for the quality of service provided. I’m so grateful and will definitely be using Craig as my go-to plumber from now on. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a plumber they can trust!

Engadine Plumber And Blocked Drain FAQ’s

Find answers to common questions about blocked drains

Two things dominate here. The first is tree roots, because so many Engadine properties back onto the Royal National Park and the natives along that boundary chase moisture into underground pipes. The second is the age of the pipework, since many homes still run on their original 1970s clay sewer lines. Grease, wipes and hair account for most of the rest.

Blocked drains from tree roots are the big one. After that it is the wear you would expect in 1970s housing: leaking tapware, failing cistern parts, ageing flexible hoses and clay sewer lines that have cracked or dropped out of alignment.

Yes, they are one of the main causes here. Mature trees have root systems that get into drainage pipes, and roots travel underground, so the tree causing your blockage does not have to be on your property. A CCTV inspection picks up root intrusion early, before it turns into a full blockage.

Generally yes, because pipes deteriorate with age. If you are getting the same blockage over and over, ageing pipework is a likely cause. Pipe relining can restore the old pipe without excavation, which means no trench through the lawn or the driveway to get the line working again.

Yes, we cover all of Engadine and the wider Sutherland Shire, including the surrounding streets and the neighbouring suburbs. We are based locally at Kirrawee, and for urgent blocked drain work we are typically in Engadine within 60 to 90 minutes.

Most leaking taps take 30 to 60 minutes. We carry common washers and cartridges on the van, so the repair is usually done in one visit without ordering parts in. If the tap body itself has worn out, we will show you what we have found and quote the replacement.
